Monkeyboy back to preschool today ... so parents take off to the Gold Coast and see monster movie and enjoy a kid free lunch of kebabs on the beach before racing back to pick up our much loved one. He loves school and this year he'll be going two days a week, giving us the oportunity to have a day a week we can both get stuck into work around the property together, all the stuff thats too nasty or dangerous for a three year old who is always so keen to help, to be anyplace near.

In other news from hicksville, its starting to dry out at last. Must have had three consecutive days without rain last week, the first in a couple of months. So our mudslide driveway is no more and we've started to even out the causeway and fill in the gutted section of road ourselves. The water has dropped considerably and we enjoyed the first drive across it last friday in the paddock basher ute, still a bit rough to put the family car through for now.

My work sites have dried out as well so i've finally been able to get out and make some money, lots has been trashed but am finding mother nature has wiped out big infestations of weeds, leaving an easy job for us to follow up and get on top of large areas quicker then we hoped.

Spent the long weekend sitting on the mower after letting the place go a tad feral over the last few months. Saturday we also put in our bit to help L&A&I&M do the big move out of Murbah and onto a little block up in the hills. Opposite direction out of town from us, but still close by, and now en route to the beach. Nice place and am sure they have finally found something more like what they moved up here for.

BTW: the movie we saw today was I Am Legend , turned out to be not too bad and well worth seeing, except for all the god and the american flag crap in the final minutes. Main reason that i went though was to hear the vocal talents of Mr Patton at last being put to use creating all the howls and screams of movie nasties, brilliantly done of course.

I Am Legend was viewed predominantly from behind a cushion with my head moving from side to side while making mewling noises.

I never get to use the word 'mewling' so I recount this particular movie experience often :D

Mike Patton you say? I must have missed this aural fact on account of the aforementioned mewling :)

You know what? As I typed the above comment there was a niggling feeling that someone had mentioned something about MP ..

Guilty as charged :D

Mewling noises must have fitted into the mix nicely for those watching with you :)

Yeah Cloverfield was our choice number two, hopefully will get a chance to see it at the cinema before it finishes.

Agree the zombies (do they qualify?) could have been a lot better, can't fault how they sounded though, very funny.

Hope all's well with you all. We missed catching up with your lovely ms ville today, i was out in the bush working and had the only vehicle we have that can travel that far, but AJ got to have a chat ...... but HatHead is not far away, then we get to see all youse at once.

:)

Long time, no see in here .. is everything still fabulous in your neck of the woods??

I have a question. Would you be interested in http://www.queenslandholidays.com.au/tropical-holidays/daintree/daintree_home.cfm ?

In honour of my Mum, who loved the Daintree. When it asked for me to nominate 5 people, I immediately thought of you guys. Not because I know you particularly well but because of what you do and how you live your life ...

(or is this just a tourism scam??)

Just a thought and a reason to say hi :)

Hi!

Hiya Miss P,

Yes it has been a while since i've done an entry, only last week did i pop in and check out some friends posts for the first time in over a month. Life has been rather hectic and my bits of computer time late at night, have been spent on other pursuits. Even slack with the email of late, just checking for stuff regarding work and getting behind on reading the rest.

Life is busy as always with monkeyboy and have also signed up for the committee that runs his preschool. The rains and the floods have left us alone for a while, the valley has not been this green in decades and the creeks are clean and the best place to be on a sunny afternoon. Otherwise i've been filling time with all sorts of bush regen work on our place and on paying clients land, including a few high pfofile sites around the Tweed area. Sitting down at work under a tree to eat lunch, watching a platypuss swimming past down the river is a pretty damn good office i think (another site i have is not so nice ...it's under a colony of 10,000 fruitbats). Add to that finally getting my little valley's landcare group into action with some tree planting and weeding along the creek working bees, organising large tree planting days with the local school kids in Tyalgum and Uki, plus studying my Cert4 at tafe this year and several other projects going on trying to save the planet one little bit at a time.

So sorry to hear about the sad loss of your Mum .. big hugs from Aj & i. I tried to check out the link you sent and it seems to not connect anymore (maybe was a tourist scam?), thanks anyway for thinking of us and yes we'z love the Daintree, even though i am yet to get up there and see it.

Be down Sin-city way probably midyear or newtown festy time, promise though to get in a few posts before then :)

Good grief ... I needed a cup of tea and good lie down after reading all that!

I tried to tell my brother it sounded like a (well meaning) tourist scam but he got a little defensive and upset so I let it lie. Mum used spend a lot of time planting trees up there so I might look into planting one through a more idealistic organisation :)

And right now I would swap your office for mine at the drop of a hat if it was truly feasible!

Hope you are all having a fabulous long weekend :)

Thanks for the information. I think that you should wash your face at least 3 to 4 times a day. You’ll be surprised how much better your face will look.
